Cooking Cooking: Kimchi soup

Hi everyone!

Here is a blogpost from me, trying to make Kimchi soup for the first time!
I used the recipe from Maangchi that you can find here.

Let’s get started!

The ingredients that Maangchi used were:
– 1 package of tofu (14 ounces:396 gams), cut into bite sized cubes
– 2 cups of chopped kimchi
- ½ pound of pork shoulder (or pork belly), cut into bite sized pieces
– 2 Tablespoons of hot pepper paste
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
– 5 cups of water
– 2 stalks of green onions, chopped

All the ingredients were chopped, so I combined the kimchi, hot pepper paste, kimchi juice, pork, and sugar in a pan.

I added 1 liter of water even though 5 cups of water is more than that (but I had a 1 liter pan) and brought everything to a boil and cooked it for 30 minutes.
After that I added the tofu and lowered the heat to medium low, then cooked for another 10 minutes and then added the chopped green onions!

I noticed that 1 liter was not enough and my tofu cubes were too big (and too many), so that’s going to change next time. But that’s why it is called Cooking Cooking, trying out Korean and Japanese recipes so we know what to do and what NOT to do next time!

The kimchi that I used was from a package, but I want to use self made kimchi someday.

So that’s my take on how I made the Kimchi soup! I hope it helps for the ones who want to make it as well.

Ik heb deze soep vanavond gemaakt! Was erg lekker!
En kimchi maken is trouwens echt niet moeilijk. Ik heb zelf thuis een pot staan. De beschrijving van het maken staat ook op mijn blog. Volgens mij smaakt het wel een beetje anders dan de kimchi uit een pakje doet.

We know ~ ^^ But for it was easier to use that kimchi because she already bought it. But we are going to make some kimchi in the future ! If we have the time for it haha
