Noblesse manwha

Well some of you know that I’m a big manga and manwha fan. So I wanted to talk about (what I think) the most known manwha and it’s one of my favorites as well.

I started to read this in the summer of 2014 when they were just published in English. The manwha is written by Son Jeho and illustrated by Lee Kwangsu and was started on December 30 in 2007 as a webtoon/manwha. This manwha is published on Naver and is still on going.

Noblesse is about a powerful noble vampire. Cadis Etrama Di Raizal (aka Rai because we all know that his name is too long to pronounce it everytime) , the nobblesse wakes up from a 820-year long sleep and starts a new life  in the land which he once knew, that had become an unfamilair place with new technology, attitudes, and lifestyles. His loyal servant is Frankenstein, who is currently the principal of the South Korean Highschool.
Rai decided that this school is a perfect place to help him learn about the modern world. He enrolls into high school and inadvertently befriends athletic teenager Shinwoo, computer geek Ikhan, and Shinwoo’s crush Yuna, and a few others.  But his peaceful days with other human students are soon interrupted by mysterious attackers known as the “Unions”.

One of the funny moments

In the beginning of the manwha the artwork was a little bit off for me, but that improved. Why I love this manwha is besides a fantasy, action, adventure manwha there is also comedy which is actually very funny. You will find yourself literally laughing with the humor that Rai brings to the series as he tries to work with his new surroundings.

So there is also a Korean OVA (2015)  and 30-minute long Japanese anime made this year.

The Korean OVA is  what happened 820 years ago from the webtoon’s timeline. This is more for the fans who  understand the story more. Personally I tried to watch it but in the beginning it was so weird for me as I’m used to Japanese or English voices (I prefer the original voices over the Dutch dub that we have sometimes)  in animations but not Korean so that made me cringe in the begin but I forced myself to watch it and loved it.

As for the anime. The sad thing is that it’s a different style than the manga but OMG. For the people who are like me that wants a Japanese anime adaption from this manwha, I think this is really good! But I’m going to discuss this in another post!
