Cooking Cooking [Christmas Edition with Elke]

If you have been in South Korea before, you may have noticed that most cafes offer a treat on the menu that looks a lot like toast. If toast would be served with a lot of whipped cream and fruit that is. They call it honey bread (허니 브레드) and it is super tasty.

Because we can’t stay in Korea all the time and buy this lovely treat, we decided to bring bread – well, -the Korean kind at least – to the Netherlands and share the recipe with you so you can make it at home!

Interview with Cherry Pie Maid Café!

I have seen Cherry Pie Maid Café in action for a while now, from where they began till now. So it was time to interview their manager, Sky, to find out more about Cherry Pie Maid Café!

Who are you and what do you do?

My name is Esmée, although I prefer to go by Sky, and among other things, I’m the manager of Cherry Pie Maid Café!

How did you come to the idea to start a maidcafé?

I visited other cafés at conventions and I absolutely loved it. The whole experience really inspired me to take the concept and try to take it to the next level. I had a lot of ideas, and when a friend suggested I should start my own café I thought; why not?

What makes this maid cafe different from other cafés? (Besides having cute and original outfits)

Based on simply facts, I believe we’re currently th...

SET x Honey Garden Christmas Event Review!

Yesterday, the 19th of December 2015, I went to Arnhem to attend the SET x Honey Garden Christmas Event together with my boyfriend.

When we stood infront of the little shop SET for Wish, where they held their event, I saw A LOT of people I know! It was pretty nice to see them all again! That’s where we also saw Esmée and her girlfriend and we decided to share a table, as we noticed it was only possible to sit with 4 at one table. That was not a problem at all, as Head maid Faeyla has put us together already.

hg 1
It was a bit cramped, but we managed to sit down and we were given a menu card where we could choose what to drink.
There were a lot of hot and cold matcha drinks, calpis drinks, but also soft drinks.

The menu on the other side was easy to follow and choose from as there were two sid...

Review: Gamasot

Today i’ll be reviewing a Korean restaurant called: Gamasot.

So I’ve been visiting this place for a long time now. I’ve also been following them since the start of the shop. I remember having a talk with the owner when it didn’t open yet (a long time ago). My friend and I were kinda creeping around the shop, since it was Korean but we didn’t know what it was. So Mr. Choi (owner) invited us in and we had a small talk.

After it opened, I’ve went by several times, and i gotta say i LOVE the food! The food is fresh and made with love. You can choose several dishes, such as Ramyeon, kimchi Jeon, Bulgogi and much more! My favorite dish is the Bulgogi. It’s fresh and healthy. The meat is nicely grilled and the noodles aren’t overcooked, they’re just perfect!

Cheemchi meets Youtube: South-Korea

Last week, we gave you a few tips who to follow about Youtubers who are living in Japan. This week it’s about South-Korea! And to be honest I really don’t know that much South-Korea based Youtubers. I love Kpop and the country, but I love Japan longer then South Korea as maybe that’s the reason I love Japanese based bloggers more? But anyways here are some Youtubers ~ ( and writing this article with Kpop is not a very good idea especially watching some old live shows with extra stuff)

My Korean husband

Nichola and Hugh are a married couple, who are living in South-Korea. She is Australian and he is Korean. She grew in rural Australia, while Hugh grew up in rural South-Korea...

Hello Kitty High Tea

On the 14th of April we existed for one year and because of that we wanted to celebrate with the people close to us. As we were thinking what we could do to celebrate, we decided to choose for something we wanted to do for a long time: Hello Kitty High tea! And then it was the 19th. We met up with everyone on the Hague station and made our way to SET Café.

The feel of the restaurant is like an authentic Japanese restaurant. Even Tsunacon took pictures like they were in Japan.
We had reserved a table for 11 people, but as one didn’t show up because of reasons we still had to pay for that missing person, so be careful!

On the table there were cute Hello Kitty mugs and bowls. It was sad they didn’t have any Hello Kitty chopsticks!

When you wanted service, you could press the service bell...

Cooking Cooking: Kimchi soup

Hi everyone!

Here is a blogpost from me, trying to make Kimchi soup for the first time!
I used the recipe from Maangchi that you can find here.

Let’s get started!

The ingredients that Maangchi used were:
– 1 package of tofu (14 ounces:396 gams), cut into bite sized cubes
– 2 cups of chopped kimchi
- ½ pound of pork shoulder (or pork belly), cut into bite sized pieces
– 2 Tablespoons of hot pepper paste
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
– 5 cups of water
– 2 stalks of green onions, chopped

All the ingredients were chopped, so I combined the kimchi, hot pepper paste, kimchi juice, pork, and sugar in a pan.

I added 1 liter of water even though 5 cups of water is more than that (but I had a 1 liter pan) and brought everything to a boil and cooked it for 30 minutes.
After that I added the tofu and lowe...

Cooking Cooking: NA NA NA TAKOYAKI

When I was surfing on the internet I found takoyaki mix powder. I thought OMG NOW I CAN MAKE TRY TO MAKE IT BY MYSELF :D. But the problem was that I didn’t have a pan to make it in. I came with the idea to make it with a popcake maker, and I ordered the mix. The next problem was the pop cake maker because I didn’t have one. But this year ( I ordered the mix last year around December) I got one for my birthday.

Now I want to share my takoyaki experience with you!

If you don’t know what takoyaki is, takoyaki is a popular Japanese dumpling.
It’s made of batter, tenkasu (tempura scraps), beni shoga (red pickled ginger), and aonegi (green onion), topped with okonomiyaki sauce, mayonnaise, aonori (green laver), and katsuobushi (bonito flakes).

I don’t like fish and octopus (but I wan...
